<p>International youth football tournament that takes place in Liepaja, Latvia. At first, it started out in 2007 as a local tournament but in 2010 first teams from abroad participated. This year tournament will happen for the 11th time in a row.</p>
<p>Since then teams from different European countries have been involved in Spring Cup with the likes of <em>Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool FC, Borussia Monchengladbach, Hamburger SV</em>, <em>CSKA Moscow, Spartak Moscow</em> and <em>RSC Anderlecht</em> to name a few. Current champions: <em>1. FC Koln</em> from Germany who is also the first team to have achieved back to back wins (2017, 2018).</p>
<p>In 2019, following the successful transition last year of the event taking place in early June instead of late May organisers have decided to no longer include the phrase "Spring" in the official name of the tournament and instead replace it with "Challenge". Hereinafter the tournament will be known as Liepaja Challenge Cup.</p>
